The City of Vergennes is considering making application to the State of Vermont for an Implementation Grant under the Vermont Community Development Program. A public hearing will be held at 3PM on April 4 , 2022 at Vergennes City Hall 120 Main Street Vergennes, VT to obtain the views of citizens on community development, to furnish information concerning the amount of funds available and the range of community development activities that may be undertaken under this program, the impact to any historic and archaeological resources that may be affected by the proposed project, and to give affected citizens the opportunity to examine the proposed statement of projected use of these funds. The proposal is to apply for $ 500,000 in VCDP Funds which will be used to accomplish the following activities: Rehabilitation of the John Graham Emergency Shelter located at 69 Main Street. The interior of the building will receive extensive renovation, including reconfiguring the layout of the first and second floors, moving and upgrading plumbing and electrical systems, installing a new HVAC system, and significant structural reinforcement. The exterior of the building shall receive minimal upgrades, improvements, and general maintenance. Significant exterior and interior features, finishes and structural soundness of the building will be retained and maintained substantially in their current condition so that their historic and architectural integrity is not lost.
