FIRE TRAINING / CONTROLLED BURN at 40 North Street, Vergennes
A fire training / controlled burn has been proposed for 40 North Street in Vergennes. This supervised fire training exercise will be invaluable to participating fire department personnel from Vergennes , Ferrisburgh, Addison and New Haven. As of this writing, there is not a hard date set for the controlled burn of the structure at 40 North Street.
Before the fire training can occur, sale of the property from Don and Theresa Clark to Dan and Rebecca Hassan must be completed. Next, the property owner and the fire Departments must follow certain steps to minimize potential exposure to toxic fumes and hazardous materials. Permits must be filed with the State of Vermont and the EPA. Residents living within ½ mile of the property must be notified.
