Municipal Development Plan Public Forum – September 13, 2018

Please join us for an important evening!

Do you have concerns about the affordability, availability or design of new housing in the City of Vergennes? Do you oppose or support more dense development patterns within the City? Are you eager for the rail trail? Do you have pedestrian safety or traffic concerns? Do you have an opinion on the economic, social or environmental direction of the City?

Public Forum will be held on Thursday, September 13, 2018 at 7:00pm in the Vergennes Opera House, to hear your ideas and concerns. All are welcome and all are encouraged to attend!

The City’s Planning Commission is considering land use zoning and policy changes to the Municipal Development Plan, as part of its required renewal by September 2019.  The changes may affect how you live, work, shop or play in the City. The Plan acts as a historical biography, branding and marketing tool, regulatory aid, community guide, project prioritization reference, and planning goal post. Essentially, the Plan is as vital to the successful management and growth of the City as an NFL team’s playbook.

Please come join the Planning Commission for a presentation and discussion of the changes being considered to the Plan, voice your opinions, meet your neighbors, and enjoy delicious refreshments and fabulous door prizes generously provided by 3 Squares Café, Daily Chocolate, Hired Hand Brewing Co, and Shacksbury Cider.

The Public Forum will consist of a brief presentation, breakout groups for smaller informal targeted discussions, and a question and answer session. Attendees are free to wander amongst the breakout groups if they are interested in more than one of the issues being addressed.

For more information and updates throughout the Plan’s renewal process, please visit:  Municipal Development Plan – We Need You!  The Plan is available electronically online and in hardcopy in the City Clerk’s Office. If you are unable to attend the Public Forum, the presentation and supplemental material will be made available online for your review.

Please provide your comments, questions, complaints, new ideas or suggestions at the Public Forum or via email to: vergennesplan@gmail.com.
