Vergennes Truck Study Results – Public Meeting April 2, 2019

April 2, 2019 at Vergennes Opera House, from 6pm to 8:30pm

There will be a public meeting on Tuesday, April 2 at the Vergennes Opera House to review and discuss the draft report on strategies to minimize the damage from truck traffic to downtown Vergennes. The meeting will start at 6pm with an informal opportunity to talk with the consultants, review the three options put forth, and have personal questions addressed. A formal presentation will begin at 7pm followed by public comments.

The study considers three alternatives for alleviating the impacts of truck traffic: in-line changes to the existing Route 22A, construction of an alternate truck route around Vergennes, and use of Route 17 as an alternative truck route. The study considers benefits and costs of each alternative. The report is being prepared by the consulting firm Stantec with funding provided by the Addison County Regional Planning Commission (ACRPC) and the Vermont Department of Transportation. The April 2 meeting follows a preliminary scoping meeting that took place in Vergennes on September 26, 2018.
