LandWorks, the City’s planning consultant that assisted the Planning Commission in drafting the Vergennes Municipal Development Plan adopted by the City Council September 29, 2009 is the 2010 recipient of the Vermont Planners’ Association Plan of the Year.
The following is an excerpt read at the Vermont Planning Conference held in Middlebury on November 5, 2010, The Plan represents a community-based voice, which is a proud statement about how Vergennes’ citizens value their community, its people, buildings, activities and services. The Plan effectively reviews and addresses concerns that many Vermont towns and cities are dealing with today, including how to integrate the beauty of the Vermont landscape, the wealth of historic structures and scenic resources while protecting the community’s character.
Through the Municipal Development Plan, the City of Vergennes is creating a future thoroughly planned by its constituents. Congratulations to the Vergennes Planning Commission and Land Works on their development of the Vergennes Municipal Development Plan – the recipient of this year’s Vermont Planners’ Association Plan of the Year”.
