Trash, Recycling & Green Up Day

Trash, recycling and compost drop-off in Vergennes is weekly on Wednesday, 2:00 PM to 6:00 PM and Saturday, 8:00 am to 12:00 PM at the Recycling Center -- located at the intersection of Canal and West Street.

Due to the increased cost of trash and recycling dumping fees at the Addison County Transfer station, prices increased on January 10, 2023.  Hours of operation and locations remain the same.  You can find trash and recycling fees here: R+L Pricing
Compost information

The Vergennes Stump Dump, located at the end of Canal Street, accepts clean, unpainted or unstained wood only. No construction debris, no branches, limbs or tree trunks larger than 4″ in diameter. From May to October, open 2nd Saturday of each month. Vergennes Residents Only. No leaves, grass or garden wasted etc.

You also have the option to burn yard waste on your own property but will have to call the Fire Warden to get a burn permit (Jim Larrow 989-9652 or David DiBiase 989-1845).
